Two Historic Chapels

One Memorable Setting

Forest Hills Cemetery is home to two historic chapels, each offering a beautiful and versatile setting for gatherings of remembrance, reflection, and celebration. These spaces are available for a variety of occasions, including memorial services, funerals, weddings, and concerts.

Whether you are planning a service immediately following an interment or cremation, or gathering at a later time to honor a life, our chapels provide a peaceful and dignified environment for family and friends to come together.

The Forsyth Chapel

Located at the main entrance of the cemetery, the Forsyth Chapel is a striking example of nineteenth century architecture. Its graceful symmetry, soaring cathedral ceiling, and richly carved wood interior create a setting of quiet beauty and reverence. Stained glass windows filter natural light throughout the space, adding to its timeless character.

The chapel is well-suited for a wide range of services, from traditional funerals and memorials to weddings and musical events. It is also home to a historic 1923 Hook and Hastings pipe organ, which may be used for services. Our staff can assist with recommendations for organists and vocalists if desired.

The Lucy Stone Chapel

Situated within the Forest Hills Columbarium and Crematory, the Lucy Stone Chapel offers an elegant and serene setting for memorial gatherings. Built in 1893, the chapel is named in honor of Lucy Stone renowned abolitionist and women’s rights advocate—and the first person to be cremated in Massachusetts at Forest Hills.

Designed in an airy neoclassical style, the chapel provides a sense of openness and tranquility, making it a meaningful space for remembrance and reflection.
